ciao, friends. I’ve decided to start using this blog to document my music journey as I learn to produce and release my first set of songs. I’ve taken a few courses on electronic music production and Logic - this track is the first full production I’ve done and focuses on the music, which is why I left it instrumental for the first iteration. I released this to Spotify to simply claim an artist page and don’t plan to promote it until I add vocals and adjust the arrangement. after a few months away from this song, I came back to it and was able to come up with a natural vocal melody for the first verse, so the next step in my process is to write some lyrics for the verse, sing and record it, then feel out a chorus. I don’t usually come up with a chorus until I’ve sung the verse and a chorus organically comes out. sometimes, I’ll come up with the chorus first, and write the verses around that. lately, I’ve been going through archived lyrics from 2010-2015 that I haven’t put to song yet - sometimes the stories feel outdated, other times they’re spot on to what I’m feeling in the moment - those are the ones I tend to use. the trick with old lyrics… the story has to feel fresh, and not like a bad mash of one-liners.
