SWTCH is an online digital fan club. Artists offer their most loyal fans a subscription based platform to access exclusive audio and video content, plus pre-release ticket sales. Included in the platform is a community feature allowing artists to connect directly with their fans. 

BACKGROUND

SWTCH spawned after Lively was acquired. After watching the struggle artists face with licensing and earning a living, something had to be done. An artist relationships VP at Lively had some connections with labels and subscription services like Spotify and then starting out Tidal. He pitched the idea of an artist specific subscription services— where fans can pay and subscribe to their favorite artist’s “digital fan club” and gain access to never-before-seen video footage or early access to new music, music, concert tickets, etc. I was onboard and started grinding as the head of design once again.

Storyboard / UX

I wanted to design SWTCH to be a fully customizable artist experience. Using SWTCH as a platform similar to Squarespace, Wix, Facebook to a degree. Each element in the UI could be styled to the artist’s liking ie. color schemes, hero images, etc. This is where the artist dashboard comes in, but that’s in another post. With all the freedom had to come some barriers. I made sure each component was simple, functional in form, and accessible. I started with high fidelity wireframes and used them to storyboard various experiences. The example below demonstrates an existing user flow navigating to a couple of areas in the PTM “fan club” in no specific order.
